Nature- Conifer Trees

Updated: Apr 22, 2022

Conifer Trees are incredibly grounding, restorative, calming to the emotions, and are beneficial to several body systems. The branches of the conifer trees are similar in anatomy to the human respiratory system, and the shape of the branches and needles are like a scrub brush. In harmony with its structure, these tree essential oils are useful for grounding and clearing congestion in the respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, and emotional systems.

Conifer Blend In a 10ml glass roller bottle, mix:

Roller Bottle Ingredients:

· 2 teaspoons jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis)

Essential Oils:

· 5 drops Balsam Fir Absolute (Abies balsamea)- the absolute is a sweeter and richer aroma than the steam distilled oil.

· 5 drops Virginia Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana)

· 5 drops Black Spruce (Picea mariana)

Directions for Use:

Apply to the upper chest and two inches below the navel on the Dantian (the energy and grounding center of the abdomen). This can also be applied to the Lung acupressure meridian.

Tips: If you want the blend to be a sweeter aroma, you can add 2-3 drops of Osmanthus Absolute (Osmanthus fragrans).

This combination of essential oils is also lovely in a nasal inhaler.

Precautions: Be mindful of the conifer essential oils' shelf life as they are subject to oxidation and will become skin irritants. This essential oil blend is not advised to be used in the bath.

On the herbal website SusunWeed.com, I read a blog article by Jane Sherry in which she describes all the ways in which we have incorporated nature into our everyday language.

· “We say we have put down roots when we have established ourselves and feel at home in our surroundings.

· When we move to a new land or a new job, we say we have found new soil in which to grow; we are transplants.

· We say that we are planting seeds for the future when we are germinating new ideas, cultivating new friends and relationships.

· We say we are branching out when we try something new.

· When we make big changes in our lives, we have breakthroughs. We say that we are breaking new ground.

· As we incorporate these new ways into our lives our habits change and we say we are growing new roots.”(2)

How true this is, that we connect our thoughts and experiences of our daily lives with the language of plants and nature. Without a doubt, plants impact the way we think about ourselves and the world around us.
