Using Essential Oils in the Laundry
Aromatherapy can be utilized in all aspects of household cleaning, including laundry.
A few years ago, we made the commitment to stop using laundry liquid in plastic bottles since plastic is one of the most environmentally challenging materials to recycle.
After using several different brands, we found Tru Earth Eco-Strips Laundry Detergent has excellent cleaning abilities. It is easy to add a few drops of essential oils if you purchase the Fragrance-Free strips.
Another environmental way to use essential oils in the laundry is by using wonderful wool dryer balls to replace dryer sheets. They are long-lasting, and you can also add a few drops of essential oils to them.
The wool dryer balls naturally soften and fluff your laundry by gently tumbling in your dryer. Their movement helps separate your fabrics, allowing the heat to flow better between them. This will reduce wrinkles and static cling and reduces drying time.
Our favorite brand is the Smart Sheep which are 100% premium New Zealand wool laundry balls.
Here are our favorite choices of essential oils to use 3-6 drops on each of the laundry detergent strips and wool dryer balls:
Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)
Black Spruce (Picea mariana)
Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana)
Fir, Silver (Abies alba)
Lavender (Lavandula officinalis)
Lemon (Citrus limon)
Lime (Citrus aurantifolia)
Please note that this is not an advertisement for the different brands mentioned. We are just sharing our favorite choices.
