Aromatherapy Healing Balm

 

As the Autumn weather turns drier and cooler, I am starting to feel my skin drying out. Time for some wonderful Healing Balm! This has been a go to product for me for many, many years. I would like to share my favorite Healing Balm formulation with you. This balm is excellent for dry, irritated, and chapped skin, cuticles, dry heels, wounds, cuts, insect bites, rashes, eczema, psoriasis, and even diaper rash.

 

Healing Balm - Makes 4oz.
Ingredients: 

  • 5 TBSP. unprocessed beeswax

  • ½ cup combination of carrier oils. ​
    Try our favorite combination for deep skin nourishing: (This last batch we made included a combination of argan, calendula, jojoba, tamanu, wheat germ, and vit. E.)

     

  • Essential oils of your choice. 2% dilution in 4 oz. is 48 drops.

10 drops Galbanum (Ferula galbaniflua)
10 drops Helichrysum – (Helichrysum italicum)
10 drops Neroli - (Citrus aurantium)
10 drops Lavender(Lavandula angustifolia)
  8 drops Calendula CO2  (Calendula officinalis)

 

The dilution of essential oils will differ if using during pregnancy or for children. For small children, ages 1-5, use .05%- 6 to 10 drops per 4oz.


Suggested blend of essential oils during pregnancy and for children: 
3 to 5 drops Lavender - (Lavandula angustifolia)
3 to 5 drops Neroli - (Citrus aurantium)

 

Slowly melt beeswax in a double boiler, when the beeswax is melted, add in the carrier oils and stir well. Take off the heat, and just before a fine skin of wax forms, add the essential oils. Pour into the containers and label. Refrigerate any extra that you make to extend the shelf life. 

 

Reminder: A small amount of healing salve goes a long way. A dime-sized is plenty to cover your cuticles or your heels.
