Happy Earth Day!
Updated: Sep 18
Earth Day is an annual event observed on April 22 to encourage awareness about the environment and teach people to embrace nature. This year, 2020, marks the 50th anniversary of the celebration, which was founded in 1970 by Gaylord Nelson, a senator from Wisconsin.
In honor of Earth Day, I want to share some of my favorite Earth inspired quotes. The Earth is one thing that we all have in common. We have an obligation to take care of this world we all share, and Earth Day is an excellent opportunity to celebrate the progress we have made.
“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” – Jane Goodall
“It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement, the greatest source of visual beauty, the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.” – David Attenborough
“Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together; all things connect.” – Chief Seattle
“Earth Day should encourage us to reflect on what we are doing to make our planet a more sustainable and livable place.” – Scott Peters
"Those who contemplate the beauty of the Earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts." – Rachel Carson
"Look deep into nature and you will understand everything better." – Einstein
“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.” – John Muir
