Spring is Here!

Hooray, springtime is here! March 20th welcomes the spring equinox in the Northern Hemisphere (autumn equinox for the Southern Hemisphere). This is a time of birth and fresh beginning stages of more outward expression of expansive energy, moving out in all directions. It is the time when we are moved to spend more time outdoors once again in the freshness of a spring morning. Warmth and light begin to return; the soil is moist with the winter melt; the days are now longer than the nights. Seeds that have laid dormant under the earth all winter push up through the ground as sprouts, and when the buds come out on the trees and turn into young green leaves. This energy provides us with a sense of renewal, reawakening, and rebirth. It gives us a connection to the future and allows us to plan and design in all areas of our lives, giving us the ability to initiate thoughts, plans, and activities. It helps us to coordinate our ideas and feelings and to bring them into action and change. This energy provides us with vision and foresight to move ahead and express our true nature, and manifest ourselves in the world.

I really enjoy using citrus essential oils this time of year. They are energizing, refreshing, and assist in clearing out the winter hibernation.

Citrus Happiness Nasal Inhaler

This blend is effective in promoting emotional uplifting. Saturate the felt wick of a nasal inhaler with these essential oils:

6 drops grapefruit (Citrus x paradisi)

7 drops orange (Citrus sinensis)

5 drops mandarin (Citrus reticulata)

2 drops spearmint (Mentha spicata)

Application: Inhale as needed to calm emotions. This blend is balancing and centering. You can use this blend throughout the day and evening.

Spring is also the perfect time for cleaning the house.

After a good house cleaning, diffusing or a room spritzer will enhance and cleanse the environment.

Citrus Refreshing Room Spritzer

In a 2oz. glass bottle, with a spray top, then add the following ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) or Solubol.

Add the essential oils and shake well:

  • 6 drops orange (Citrus sinensis)

  • 6 drops grapefruit (Citrus x paradisi)

  • 4 drops lemon (Citrus limon)

  • 3 drops lime (Citrus aurantifolia)

  • 3 drops may chang (Litsea cubeba)

First, put the jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) or Solubol into the bottom of the bottle, add the essential oils, and shake well. Then, add in water and/or hydrosol. Shake well.

Spray in the corners of a room or on linens. Caution: Keep away from the face.

Just a reminder that cold-pressed/expressed citrus essential oils like bergamot (Citrus bergamia), grapefruit (Citrus x paradisi), and lemon (Citrus limon) are photosensitive. If they are steam distilled, then they are not photosensitive.

Enjoy a wonderful, vibrant spring!
